The quadriceps tendon works with the muscles at the front the thigh to straighten the leg. Quadriceps tendon tears are not common and most frequently occur when there is heavy weight on the leg with the foot planted and the knee partially bent (IE. when landing from a jump). Common symptoms include a popping sensation in the knee, pain and swelling in the knee, and an inability to straighten the knee.
